Tour features
Three days sightseeing and camel safari tour from the red Imperial city of Marrakech to the Zagora desert, gateway to the Sahara desert in Morocco at the foot of Anti-Atlas Mountains in South-Eastern Morocco. The Draa Valley (home of hundreds of thousands of palm groves) is still home to several authentic Berber tribes, preserves numerous traditional pisé clay fortified Kasbahs and old fortresses and the nearby Sahara desert sand dunes are worth exploring.
Itinerary
Day one - Marrakech to Zagora desert : After breakfast pick-up from your riad in Marrakech, cross the scenic Tizi n’Tichka High Atlas Mountain pass towards Ouarzazate for a traditional Moroccan lunch and mint tea with late afternoon arrival in Zagora through Agdz and the Draa Valley. Sunset 1.5 hour camel ride to desert camp, dinner with ethnic (traditional North-African) drumming, singing and dancing around the fire, overnight in authentic nomad Berber tents. Optional star-gazing or sleeping under the stars.
Day two - Zagora desert to Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou: Early morning 1.5 hours sunrise camel ride followed by breakfast. Depart back to Ouarzazate for traditional lunch and optional visit to Atlas Film Studios, dinner and overnight at Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou (UNESCO world heritage site).
Day three - Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou to Marrakech: After breakfast, guided tour of Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou. Depart back to Marrakech with traditional Moroccan lunch on the Tizi n’Tichka Atlas Mountain pass. Late afternoon / early evening arrival back in Marrakech, drop off at your riad.
