Itinerary
Day one-Casablanca, transfer to Rabat: Arrival at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport, shuttle transfer to the Imperial city of Rabat. Rest of the day free time to relax/rest/explore the surrounds. Late afternoon overview of tour by team leader, followed by a meet and greet group dinner, overnight Rabat.
Day Two-Rabat : After breakfast, visit to the Hassan Towers (minaret of an incomplete 12th century mosque) and mausoleum of Mohammed V, before departing to the Kasbah of des Oudaias, a charming medieval fortress district that was the first settlement in Rabat (Unesco world heritage site). Lunch in the kasbah. After lunch, rest/leisure time, followed by group dinner. Overnight Rabat.
Day Three-Rabat to Meknes to Fes: After breakfast, transfer to the Imperial city of Meknes. Short orientation tour of Bab Mansour and souks beyond, with lunch in the old medina. Transfer to the Imperial city of Fes. After lunch, rest/leisure time, followed by group dinner in the local souks. Overnight Fes
Days Four-Fes: After breakfast, depart on a ½ day locally guided tour of the alleys and souks of the old medina known as Fes el Bali (Unesco World Heritage site). Visit the King’s Palace, Chouara tanneries, ceramics and textile co-operatives. End your medina tour with a stroll through the busy local market streets, with lunch in the medina. Return to riad for rest, with leisure time rest of late afternoon and evening to explore Bab Boujloud (the famous Blue Gate) and the souks beyond. Dinner and overnight Fes
Day Five- Fes: After breakfast, enjoy side tours to the well-preserved Roman ruins of Volubilis (Unesco world heritage site), followed by a local guided tour of nearby Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, holy city of Morocco. Local lunch in the ancient, timeless yellow and green medina. Return to Fes for rest, followed by a pastilla dinner at a local family house, overnight Fes.
Day Six- Fes to Midelt: After breakfast, depart to Midelt, the main town in the apple district of Morocco. On the way, coffee stop in Ifrane, Morocco’s Swiss village in the Middle Atlas Mountains. Short stop in the Azrou cedar forests to view the Barbary monkeys. Lunch on a family-run apple farm in Zaida village near Midelt. On arrival, free time to relax or self-explore. Group dinner and overnight Midelt.
Day Seven- Midelt to Merzouga : After breakfast, leisurely follow the desert road and admire the great expanse and panoramic views of the Gorges du Ziz. Lunch at the highest point with panoramic views. Afternoon arrival at the desert town of Merzouga, embark on an exciting and memorable sunset camel safari into the orange desert dunes to your luxury desert camp. On the way, ample time for your sunset photo memories of a lifetime! Mint tea on arrival, with traditional dinner and ethnic (traditional North-African) drumming, singing and dancing around the fire. Overnight Merzouga desert
Day Eight- Merzouga village: After sunrise coffee/tea, free time to relax and enjoy the early morning on the dunes - an ideal photo opportunity, followed by leisurely breakfast. Depart back to Merzouga town via 4x4. Relax at your riad, lunch at the poolside. Late afternoon visit to Khamlia village for a traditional gnawa music show (The village is famous for its indigenous black-skinned Africans taken from Mali, Sudan and Senegal centuries ago, and their unique authentic music known as Gnawa). Medfouna dinner (Berber pizza) and overnight Merzouga village.
Day Nine- Merzouga to Todra Gorge: After breakfast, transfer to the orange limestone cliffs of Todra Gorge. Short stop to view the desert khettaras (ancient underwater system). Lunch at Kasbah El Khourbat in Tinjdad. Arriving in the gorge, enjoy a slow-paced stroll through the magnificent gorge with the shallow river on one side and a multitude of informal, colourful shops on the other. Relaxation time at kasbah, with late afternoon visit to a local women’s weaving co-operative for a traditional carpet weaving demonstration, group dinner and overnight at kasbah.
Day Ten- Todra Gorge to Ksar Ait Ben Haddou: After breakfast, depart to the crumbling ancient Ksar Aït Ben Haddou (Unesco world heritage site), through Dades valley, Rose valley, Skoura and Ouarzazate (Road of 1,000 kasbah). Short stop at a local women’s rose products co-operative. On arrival, traditional lunch with time to relax. After lunch, guided tour of ksar and visit to the small, charming shops hidden around unexpected corners, group dinner and overnight at the hotel
Day Eleven- Ksar Ait Ben Haddou to Marrakech: After breakfast, depart to the magical red Imperial city of Marrakech by crossing the scenic Tizi n’Tichka high Atlas Mountain pass. Lunch will be in a local village. Visit a local argan oil women’s co-operative. Arriving in Marrakech, rest of afternoon and evening will be free time to relax or explore at leisure. Group dinner on a rooftop restaurant overlooking the famous Jemaa el Fna square, overnight Marrakech.
Day Twelve- Marrakech: After breakfast, local orientation tour of the famous Jemaa el Fna, labyrinth of medina alleyways, souks and Mosques. Afterwards, enjoy a fabulous, leisurely day of shopping and exploring, optional organic henna hand tattoo, hammam or cooking class! Group dinner at a restaurant in the famous Jemaa el Fna, overnight Marrakech
Day thirteen- Marrakech: After breakfast, side trip to the beautiful, tranquil, rural Ourika Valley, a cool haven in the Atlas Mountains. Local guided tour of the small, local villages, with traditional lunch next to the river. After lunch, explore or relax, taking in the beauty of the valley. Late afternoon,return to Marrakech. Group dinner in the medina, overnight Marrakech.
Day fourteen- Marrakech to Casablanca: After breakfast, depart to the Atlantic port city of Casablanca. Lunch on arrival. Optional tour of the Hassan II Mosque at 3pm. Leisure time till your farewell group dinner at the famous Rick’s Café. Overnight Casablanca
Day fifteen- Casablanca After your final breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye and transfer to the Mohammed V International airport, with drop-off in time for your international flight departure schedule.
