Itinerary
Day one-Casablanca Arrival at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport, private transfer to your hotel. Time allowing, optional visit to Hassan II Mosque in afternoon. Late afternoon group meeting with overview of tour, followed by a “meet and greet” group dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight Casablanca.
Day Two-Casablanca to Chefchaouen : After breakfast, depart to Chefchaouen via Rabat, with short visit to the Hassan Tower (Minaret of an incomplete 12th century Mosque) and mausoleum of Mohammed V. Continue to the 50 shades of blue city – the Pearl of Morocco – Chefchaouen. Lunch in local village. On arrival, short orientation tour of the Place Outa el Hammam and main souks, with free time to explore at leisure. Dinner and overnight Chefchaouen.
Day Three-Chefchaouen: After breakfast, free day to explore at leisure and getting lost in the blue souks and alleyways. Visit the old Kasbah (Alcazaba) and Mellah (Jewish) area, get scrubbed in a local hammam, explore the Outa el Hamam square (live Amazigh music at night) or simply stroll around the colourful medina and tiny shops. Late afternoon hike to the site of the old unused Spanish Mosque to enjoy a breath-taking view of the blue city while listening to the Call to Prayer. Lunch, dinner and overnight Chefchaoauen
Days Four-Chefchaouen to Fes: After breakfast, depart to the ancient Imperial city of Fes through the holy town of Moulay Idriss, with traditional Moroccan lunch. Locally guided tour of the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, (Unesco world heritage site). Optional local family 4-course pastilla dinner, overnight Fes. Dinner and overnight Fes
Day Five- Fes: After breakfast, full morning explore of the walled Fes el Bali medina (UNESCO world heritage site) with local city guide, visit the ancient labyrinth of alleyways in the souks, historical monuments, famous Chouara tannery and ceramic co-operative. Traditional Moroccan lunch in the Fes medina. Dinner and overnight Fes.
Day Six- Fes to Merzouga: Early start at 7am. Depart to Merzouga through Ifrane, Morocco’s Swiss village for a coffee stop. Continue through the Azrou cedar forests to view and feed the Barbary monkeys. Lunch will be on a family-run apple farm near Midelt. Follow the desert road and admire the great expanse and panoramic views of the Gorges du Ziz. Upon arrival at the desert town of Merzouga, embark on an exciting and memorable sunset camel safari into the orange desert dunes to the luxury desert camp. On the way, ample time will be allowed for your sunset photo memories of a lifetime! Mint tea on arrival, traditional dinner with ethnic (traditional North-African) drumming, singing and dancing around the fire, overnight Merzouga desert.
Day Seven- Merzouga to Todra Gorge: After early morning sunrise breakfast, drive back to Merzouga village via 4x4 transport. Depart to Todra Gorge, short stop at the Khettaras (ancient underwater system). Arriving at the stunning, towering orange limestone cliffs of Todra, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the narrow gorge with its colourful informal shops on one side and the shallow river on the other, while enjoying a picnic lunch next to the river. After some rest or a welcome swim at the kasbah, visit the local women’s carpet co-operative, dinner with a local family, overnight Todra Gorge
Day Eight-Todra Gorge to Ksar Ait Ben Haddou: After breakfast, transfer to the ancient fortified village of Ksar Ait Ben Haddou (Unesco World Heritage site) through Dades Valley, Kelaat M’Gouna (Rose Valley) and Skoura (Road of 1,000 kasbah, with walk through one of the deserted kasbah adjacent to the road). Visit a local women’s rose-oil co-operative. Lunch in the duoar (village) of Ksar Ait Ben Haddou. Rest of afternoon free time to explore the famous Ksar and Kasbah, featured in many movies. Dinner and overnight in Ait Ben Haddou village.
Day Nine- Ksar Ait Ben Haddou to Marrakech: After breakfast, depart to the magical Imperial red city of Marrakech by crossing the stunning and scenic Tizi n’Tichka high Atlas Mountain pass. Lunch will be barbequed kebabs in a local village on the pass. Arriving in Marrakech, orientation tour of the famous Jemaa el Fna, labyrinth of medina alleyways, souks and Mosques. Free time rest of late afternoon and evening to explore at leisure. Rooftop dinner, overnight Marrakech.
Day Ten- Marrakech: After breakfast, free day to explore the Marrakech medina historic sites and souks with its labyrinth of alleyways, local lunch in the souks, farewell dinner in the Jemaa el Fna, overnight Marrakech.
Day Eleven- Marrakech to Essaouira: After breakfast, depart to Essaouira, the happy and laid-back small Atlantic coastal city. Visit a local women’s argan oil co-operative. Arriving, local lunch in medina, with orientation tour of the ancient fishing harbour with its iconic blue fishing boats, old Portuguese fortress city walls and La Scala port, rampants and old blue and yellow medina. Leisure time rest of late afternoon and evening to relax or explore. Dinner and overnight Essaouira.
Day Twelve- Essaouira: After breakfast, free time to explore and experience Essaouira at leisure. Optional activities can include exploring the old medina and bustling working harbour with its thousands of hungry squawking seagulls and sassy cats, La Sqala rampants, enjoy a good scrub at a local hammam or take a taxi to the iconic Jimmy Hendrix’s Café in Diabad for coffee! Lunch, dinner and overnight Essaouira.
Day thirteen-Essaouira to Casablanca: After breakfast, depart back to Casablanca via the coastal road. Lunch will be at Oualidia corniche (Sea-side village known for its pink flamingos and oyster farms). Arriving in Casablanca, leisure time to re-pack bags or last minute explore. Farewell dinner and overnight Casablanca.h.
Day fourteen-Casablanca: After breakfast, transfer to Mohammed V International airport with drop-off in time for your flight departure schedule.
