Itinerary
Day one: Casablanca to Chefchaouen: After breakfast pick-up from your riad in Casablanca for start of tour, depart to Chefchaouen, the blue pearl of Morocco with a traditional Moroccan lunch along the way, upon arrival explore the blue medina (old town) of Chefchaouen with your guide, sunset drive for view from the top of city, dinner and overnight Chefchaouen.
Day two – Chefchaouen to Fes: After breakfast, additional 2 hours explore of medina. After mint tea, depart to the ancient Imperial city of Fes through the holy town of Moulay Idriss, with traditional Moroccan lunch. Guided tour of the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, (Roman ruins). Dinner and overnight riad Fes.
Day three - Fes: After breakfast, full morning explore of the walled Fes el Bali medina (UNESCO world heritage site) with a local city guide, visiting the ancient labyrinth of alleyways in the souks, historical monuments, famous Chouara tannery and ceramic co-operative. Traditional Moroccan lunch in the Fes medina. Dinner and overnight Fes.
Day four- Fes to Merzouga After early breakfast depart to the desert town of Merzouga and Erg Chebbi dunes through Ifrane, an alpine town in the middle Atlas Mountain. At Azrou Cedar forests, guided short walk to view the local Barbary monkeys, continue through the high plains of Midelt and palm grove of Gorges Du Ziz with traditional Moroccan lunch along the way. Upon arrival at Merzouga start 1.5 hour sunset camel ride into the orange desert dunes with an experienced local desert guide, traditional dinner with ethnic (traditional North-African) drumming, singing and dancing around the fire, overnight in authentic nomad Berber tents. Optional sand boarding, star-gazing or sleeping under the stars.
Day five - Merzouga to Todgha Gorges: Early morning sunrise 1.5 hour guided camel ride back to Merzouga, shower, breakfast and depart to Gorges du Todgha. Traditional Moroccan lunch and guided hike along the gorge, visit a traditional women Berber carpet weaving co-operative for a carpet weaving demonstration, dinner and overnight in Kasbah in Todgha Gorges.
Day six - Gorges du Todra to Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou: After breakfast depart to Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou (UNESCO world heritage site) through the Dades valley and gorge, Rose valley, Skoura and Ouarzazate, traditional Moroccan lunch in Ouarzazate, guided tour of Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou, dinner and overnight in local village.
Day seven -Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou to Marrakech: After breakfast, continue through the rural Ounila valley for a guided tour of the famous crumbling Glaoui Kasbah of Telouet, depart back to the Imperial red city of Marrakech with traditional Moroccan lunch on the scenic Tizi n’Tichka high Atlas Mountain pass. Dinner and overnight Marrakech.
Day eight – Marrakech: After breakfast, full-day sightseeing tour of the Marrakech medina historic sites and souks with its labyrinth of alleyways with a local city guide, lunch in the Jemaa el Fna square, dinner and overnight Marrakech.
Day nine - Marrakech to Imlil: After breakfast, depart to the Berber village of Imlil in the high Atlas Mountains. Enjoy a relaxed 3-hour guided hike in the Imlil Valley for a look into the lives of the local Berber people going about their daily work, visit the highest Atlas Mountain Berber shop, enjoy a traditional Moroccan picnic lunch in the valley under the walnut trees, after lunch Moroccan tea ceremony with local Berber family. Hike back to Imlil village and depart to Marrakech for late afternoon drop off at your riad to end the tour.
Day ten-Imlil to Essaouira : After breakfast depart through the high Atlas Mountains to Essaouira, on way visit a local Argan oil co-operative, guided tour of the port area, traditional Moroccan seafood lunch freshly prepared in the port, guided tour of the medina, souk and beach areas, enjoy an adventurous optional guided camel or horse ride on the windy beach. Rooftop sunset seafood dinner and overnight Essaouira medina.
Day eleven-Imlil to Essaouira : After breakfast depart through the high Atlas Mountains to Essaouira, on way visit a local Argan oil co-operative, guided tour of the port area, traditional Moroccan seafood lunch freshly prepared in the port, guided tour of the medina, souk and beach areas, enjoy an adventurous optional guided camel or horse ride on the windy beach. Rooftop sunset seafood dinner and overnight Essaouira medina.
Day twelve-Essaouira : After breakfast depart to Casablanca with traditional Moroccan lunch in the souk. Afternoon public tour of Hassan II Mosque. Drop off at your riad to end the tour.
